What is the hyena thinking as s/he looks out over the lake at all those Flamingo’s.  The biologists among you would suggest s/he is thinking “dinner”.  The philosophers would think s/he is pondering something other food.

I think she was having drink and the cameraman just happened to catch a beautiful shot as she raised her head.  Being a pragmatist is difficult some days when you want to be a dreamer :).

Today is the day I randomly decided to set up an account and start a blog.   I have no particular theme in mind but will blog about the things that interest me.   Today it is wondering  about why, when people see the same thing, they come up with so many different options about what they are seeing.   The first time I was asked to think about this, was at a talk by the wonderful Ruby Wax.   She asked the audience to close their eyes and picture “red wine”.   She then asked people to describe what they saw.  Some people saw a bottle of red wine, some a glass of red wine.  Some saw wine on a table with cheese and grapes, some people pictured themselves drinking red wine.    She used this point to demonstrate how easy it is for people to think others understand or picture exactly what they understand and picture. But this is not always the case.

This, to me, is an endlessly fascinating subject.  What people do, how they behave, what they think, what they share, what they don’s share.
